Standards Compliance
We have made sure that all of the HTML code on this website validates correctly as an XHTML 1.0 Strict document, following the guidelines laid out by the W3C. These guidelines help ensure that all content is marked up correctly and will be interpreted correctly by the widest range of web browsing devices. Standards compliance is also a legal obligation in many countries and it is a very important part of creating sites that are accessible to users with disabilities.
Browsers
At Iberian Media we believe that all of a websites content should be accessible regardless of the browser being used. Our development process is centered around the "Progressive Enhancement" methodology which creates a clear separation of content, presentation, and behavior suited to each browsers capabilities. This website uses CSS3 design elements and rules for the presentation layer which are supported by the most standards based browsers on the market today such as Safari, Firefox v2 and above, Opera, and to some degree - Internet Explorer 8. Visitors using older non-compliant browsers such as Internet Explorer 7 and below, or Firefox 1.x will also be able to access all of the content in this site, however they will have a "lesser" visual experience. This method of offering "extra" presentational and interactive value to more standards aware browsers is part of the Progressive Enhancement methodology.
Mobile Devices
Even though all of the content in this site is still accessible when viewing it with a mobile device's browser, we are currently working on an optimized version of this site which takes into account the reduced screen size and tactile navigation methods which these devices use to navigate the web. We are also working on incorporating functionalities that take advantage of the accelerometer included in such devices as the iPhone or iPad by Apple, so the user may control and re-order the visual layout based upon the orientation of the device to allow for a more pleasant viewing experience.
Links
Hypertext links are the backbone of the internet which is why we take great care in using them. All the links in this website include descriptive texts which make sense when the links are taken out of context (you will not find a link that uses the text "click here" to describe its destination). The links on our site also make use of the TITLE and REL (relevance) attributes to further extend the description of the link and its destination. Links that point to files for downloading purposes are marked as such, along with the size in kilobytes of the file. All of the internal and external links in this site open in the same browser window for usability and accessibility reasons.
Images
All images that are relevant to content used in this website include text descriptions by way of the ALT (alternate) attribute. Purely decorative images use the ALT attribute with a null value (""). All background images and many of the decorative images included in this site are generated via CSS and do not require the use of the aforementioned ALT attribute. The websites we develop are designed to be completely legible and accessible in the event that CSS and/or images have been disabled in the users browser. Go ahead and give it a try! Disable CSS and images in your browser, notice that the content is still legible and maintains a logical order.
Content and Structure
Our website uses CSS style sheets for all visual aspects and Unobtrusive Javascript for all interactive elements. If your browser does not support CSS or Javascript, or has them deactivated, the content of this site will still be accessible, legible, and retain its logical order. The majority of the text included in this site may be enlarged or reduced using the text zoom options included in your browser, however to retain the visual aspect while zooming we recommend that you use a more modern browser with full page zoom capabilities.
